CalmSub ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use CalmSub. We believe in transparency and calm clarity—no surprises, no hidden tracking.
What We Store
We only store information you provide directly to us:
- Subscription data: Service names, amounts, renewal dates, billing frequencies, and any notes you add
- Settings and preferences: Your reminder preferences, notification settings, and other app configurations
- Email address: Only if you enable email reminders—we need this to send you gentle heads-ups before renewals
- Account information: Basic profile data (name, email) from your authentication provider (Clerk)
That's it. We don't store anything else.
What We Don't Do
We want to be crystal clear about what we don't do:
- No bank linking: We never connect to your bank accounts or financial institutions. You stay in complete control.
- No selling data: We never sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Ever.
- No advertising tracking: We don't use advertising trackers or share your data with advertisers. We only use privacy-friendly product analytics (PostHog) to understand how you use CalmSub.
- No data mining: We don't analyze your spending patterns for advertising or other purposes.
Vendors We Use
To run CalmSub, we work with trusted service providers. Here's who we use and why:
- Clerk: Handles authentication securely. They process your login credentials but don't have access to your subscription data.
- Neon/Postgres: Stores your subscription data in a secure database. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Resend: Sends email reminders (if you enable them). They only receive your email address and the reminder content we generate.
These vendors are contractually required to protect your data and only use it to provide services to us. They don't have permission to use your data for their own purposes.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to:
- Provide and maintain CalmSub services
- Send you reminders about upcoming renewals (if you enable them)
- Respond to your requests and support needs
- Improve our services (using aggregated, anonymized data where possible)
Data Retention and Deletion
How long we keep your data: We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using CalmSub, your data remains stored until you delete your account.
How to delete your data: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your settings page. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, your subscription data, settings, and account information are removed from our systems within 30 days.

Cookies and Analytics
We use minimal cookies and tracking:
- Authentication cookies: Required for you to stay logged in. These are essential for the service to work.
- Server logs: We keep basic server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) for security and debugging. These are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Product analytics (PostHog): We use PostHog to understand how you use CalmSub and improve the product. We collect:
- Event names (e.g., "subscription_added", "intensity_viewed")
- Timestamps
- User IDs (Clerk user ID - no email or name)
- Safe metadata (e.g., template slugs, location identifiers)
- Subscription amounts or financial data
- Email addresses or names
- Other personally identifiable information (PII)
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data (view everything we store about you)
- Correct inaccurate data (update your subscriptions, settings, etc.)
- Delete your account and data (permanent removal from our systems)
- Export your data (coming soon as a Pro feature; free users can view all data in the app)
